Best Manuscript in Vitreoretinal Surgery Suel Abujamra Award
This award recognizes the best manuscript in any field of vitreoretinal surgery.

Best Manuscript in Medical Retina Arturo Alezzandrini
Senior Award
This award honors Prof. Arturo Alezzandrini, one of the founders of GLADAOF, the organization that later evolved into the Pan-American Retina & Vitreous Society (PRVS/SPRV).
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- • Submit an original, unpublished manuscript in the field of medical retina.
- • Be a retina specialist under 40 years of age.
- • Be affiliated with an academic institution

The recipient will present the manuscript during a 5-minute oral presentation and will receive a certificate from the Pan-American Retina & Vitreous Society together with a US$ 1,000 prize.

Best Manuscript by a Retina Fellow José Berrocal Award
The José Berrocal Award recognizes the best original research conducted by current retina fellows under the supervision of active SPRV members.
Eligible applicants include:
Current retina fellows.
Fellows who completed their fellowship in June 2026.
The submitted work must represent an original contribution to any area of vitreoretinal disease, including:
research
research
science
The research must have been performed during the applicant's retina fellowship.
In addition to the monetary award, the recipient will be invited to present a 5-minute oral presentation during the SPRV Congress.

Best Curriculum CV of the SPRV 2026 FERNANDO AREVALO YOUNG RETINA SPECIALIST AWARD
This award recognizes the most outstanding Curriculum Vitae (CV) submitted together with a manuscript in any retinal field.
The submitted manuscript will serve as the
oral presentation during the Awards Ceremony.
CV Requirements:
The CV must be written in English and should highlight three major areas:

The Fernando Arévalo Young Retina Specialist Award, established in 2024, recognizes outstanding young retina specialists (under 40 years of age) who demonstrate excellence in clinical care, academic achievement, humanitarian service, leadership, and scientific productivity.
There is no maximum page limit.
The CV must be formatted in
Times New Roman, double-spaced.
The manuscript and CV must be submitted
simultaneously as two separate PDF files.
The recipient will present the submitted manuscript in a 5-minute PowerPoint or Keynote presentation immediately before receiving the award.
The award aims to recognize excellence while inspiring future generations of young retina specialists to pursue careers in academic ophthalmology and professional leadership.
Eligible candidates must:
- • Be members of both the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) and the Pan-American Retina & Vitreous Society (PRVS/SPRV).
- • Reside in the Americas, Spain, or Portugal.
- • Demonstrate exceptional commitment to patient care and community service.
- • Show promise in academic ophthalmology.
- • Have an outstanding record of publications and scientific presentations.
- • Have actively participated in leadership roles within national or international ophthalmic societies.
The award will be presented by

SPRV Surgical Video Award
This award recognizes the best 3-minute surgical video demonstrating an innovative or complex vitreoretinal surgical procedure performed by a retina fellow.
Each submission must be accompanied by a letter from the director of the applicant's retina fellowship program.
The 10 highest-scoring videos will be selected for presentation during the SPRV Meeting on Sunday, November 1, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
Videos must be narrated live by the presenting fellow during the session.
Evaluation Criteria:
Each video will be independently scored

Award Presentation:
The award ceremony will take place on
Sunday, November 1, from 10:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
Only finalists who personally present and narrate their videos and are present during the awards ceremony will be eligible to receive the prize.
If the winning author is absent, the award will be offered to the next highest-ranked finalist until an eligible recipient is identified.

SPRV Best E-Poster Award
This award recognizes the best E-Poster submitted to the meeting that did not receive any of the manuscript awards.

The award will be presented by Rodrigo Brant, Eduardo Dib, Anna Carolina Carvalho Araújo, Marina Roizenblatt, Marcelo Zas, Jans Fromow-Guerra, Nassin Abreu, Natasha Cruz, Mauricio Maia, and Michel Eid Farah.
The first author must be registered for the SPRV Meeting to be eligible for award consideration.
Award recipients will be notified by October 5 at 6:00 PM BRT regarding the date and time of their presentation.
Manuscripts must be submitted through the SPRV Meeting website between July 20 (Monday) and September 27 at 12:00 AM BRT (midnight, São Paulo time).
All manuscripts must be written in English and follow the structure described.
